Turkey’s coast along the Mediterranean has typical Mediterranean weather; hot, dry summers with cool, wet winters.
The
mountain ranges near the coast keep the Mediterranean weather out of inland Turkey. The seasons are in much greater contrast
on the Anatolian plateau. Winter temperatures can drop as low as -30 °F in the mountains, and snow can stay in some areas
for 120 days of the year. The summer temperatures are usually above 86 °F.
Turkey typically gets an average of
15 inches of rain annually. The wettest month is May, and the driest months are July and August.
