With 92% of its population a part of the Sunni Muslim religion, the people take religion very seriously.
Dress codes
are strictly observed, as well as religious traditions such as Ramadan during which no one eats, smokes, or drinks during
the day.
Even with such religious devotion, Jordan has religious freedom for all its citizens. There is no overlap
between religion and state politics except in the religious court which exists along side the normal court. The
official language in Jordan is Arabic, but many citizens involved in the tourist industry can and do understand English.
